Humble Beginnings

Cheshire Gun Room began over two decades ago in John Farrugia’s home-based workshop. Through hard work and determination, the family business has grown into a thriving enterprise with:

• Two retail outlets

• An online store

• Export and international department

• Dedicated gunsmithing workshop

John Farrugia’s Passion & Expertise

John’s deep passion for shooting and gunsmithing led him to work alongside some of the most prestigious gunsmiths in the country, including:

• Holland & Holland

• WW Greener

• E.J Churchill

In the early years, John focused on refurbishing fine English Side-by-Side guns, exporting them overseas, and presenting them at game fairs. His high-quality craftsmanship earned him a strong reputation and a loyal client base both in the UK and internationally. Many of those early clients became lifelong friends.

Business Expansion

As demand for gunsmithing services increased, John expanded from his home workshop to his first retail store in Stockport in 2004. The store was completely refurbished to include:

• A tailor-made gun room

• Fully equipped workshop

• Storage and office space

Over the following years, Cheshire Gun Room grew by attending more game fairs and trade shows, further establishing its customer base in the UK and abroad.

A Family Business

As the business flourished, John’s son, Johnathan, joined the team to develop the retail and online divisions. Under his leadership, Cheshire Gun Room expanded into:

• Air Rifles

• Rifles

• Optics

• Clothing

These additions transformed the store into a one-stop shop for every shooter.

Acquisitions & Brand Development

John MacNab

John acquired John MacNab, a prestigious brand of British shotguns, with plans to redevelop and launch a new range of guns and accessories.

T. Stensby & Co

Another major acquisition was T. Stensby & Co, a historic Manchester gunmaker established in 1810. John plans to revive production and continue the legacy of this well-known brand.

The Opening of North West Gun Centre

In late 2009, Cheshire Gun Room took another significant step by opening a second retail outlet in Bolton, acquiring the former Target Sports of Bolton.

Following a recently completed refurbishment, the store has been transformed into a modern and welcoming space for all shooters. With an expanded retail area and a vast selection of guns, the North West Gun Centre (also known as Cheshire Gun Room Bolton) offers a premier shopping experience, catering to enthusiasts of all disciplines.

Commitment to the Shooting Community

John is a passionate shooter who strongly supports the growth of the sport. Cheshire Gun Room has actively:

• Encouraged young and new shooters

• Supported charity and fundraising events

• Partnered with local gun clubs, Scout Groups, and Air Cadets
