According to the Firearms Act 1968, shotguns are classified under Section 2 firearms. These shotguns are commonly used for sporting purposes such as clay pigeon shooting and game shooting. Some bolt-action rifles with smooth-bore barrels are also classified under Section 2 firearms. To legally purchase and possess a Section 2 shotgun or rifle in the UK, individuals must obtain a Shotgun Certificate (also known as a Section 2 Firearm Certificate) issued by the local police force. You can find all the information on how to apply here: https://www.gov.uk/find-licences/shotgun-and-firearm-certificates
While placing an order on our website for a section 2 shotgun, you can choose between two different delivery options. You can either choose to collect it from one of our stores or you can choose to get it delivered to your nearest RFD (Registered Firearms Dealer).
Collection from one of our Shops
If you are collecting the order from one of our stores you just need to bring your Section 2 Firearm Certificate / Shotgun Certificate along with you upon collection. After verifying your identity and the details on your certificate, we will add your section 2 shotgun to your certificate and notify your issuing police constabulary's firearm section through email. We will also provide you with a printed copy of the same.
After completing the procedure and receiving the gun, you must send a copy of the police notification to the firearms section of your issuing police constabulary within 7 working days. This can be done via email, post, or online.
Getting it delivered to your nominated RFD
Once you've placed your order on our website to get it delivered to your nominated RFD you will be required to post your original Shotgun Certificate to us (we recommend Royal Mail Special Delivery Service as it is quick and secure). Once we have received your certificate, we will add the shotgun to it and notify your issuing police constabulary's firearm section through email about your ownership of the shotgun. We will then post your Shotgun Certificate back to you along with a printed copy of the police notification through Royal Mail Special Delivery Service. After we have received the payment and the above paperwork is completed, we will send your shotgun to your nominated RFD. You can then collect your shotgun from them after showing your shotgun certificate to which we added the gun.
After completing the procedure and receiving the gun, you must send a copy of the police notification to the firearms section of your issuing police constabulary within 7 working days. This can be done via email, post, or online.
Please note: You will be required to provide the details of your nearest RFD at the time of placing the order. If you are unsure of your nearest RFD and need help finding one, please don’t hesitate to contact us, and we will help you locate your nearest RFD.
We charge an additional £30 to send the gun to your nominated RFD. Your nominated RFD may also charge you a nominal amount to accept the gun from us, please contact them to confirm this.

For over 20 years Cheshire Gun Room Ltd has been exporting and importing firearms, worldwide, to destinations as far ranging as Europe and the US to Nepal, Australia and beyond. We can also deal with the imports and exports of accessories such as scopes, moderators, ammunition and most of the items displayed online.
From start to finish we endeavour to make the whole experience as pain-free as possible.
We are not only able to export guns that we have sold but can also arrange exports for 3rd parties, such as clients who have sold their guns to people abroad or customers looking to move to a different country. We can also assist other gun shops who have enquiries abroad.
If you need a gun moving in or out of the UK, we can usually help whatever the circumstances and wherever the destination.
We can import and export Section 1, Section 2, Section 5, Air Rifles and Antiques & De-activated weapons.
We hold Open Licenses for Europe, USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand. This greatly speeds up the export process to these destinations eliminating the need, in most cases, to apply for an export permit on a case by case basis.
